Liturgy

The mission of the Liturgy Committee is to assist Fr. Bakewell in planning and facilitating the liturgical prayer of our parish. The word “liturgy” means the “work of the people.” Liturgical prayer can take many forms: a Word Service, a Communion Service, Stations of the Cross, Benediction, etc. For us Catholics, the highest form of liturgy is the Mass. Being Catholic, which means “universal,” means that the Mass we attend on a given day is the same Mass, the same prayers, the same readings, that are heard by people in Africa, Japan, Canada, Brazil, France, or Australia. The Catholic Church is one, holy, catholic (universal), and apostolic Church. And the Mass is the source and summitof our Christian lives.
